Grandpa came to me at work on October 21st asking me the name of his heart doctor and I questioned him as to why and he told me he was having some pressure in his chest. I immediately took him to the Tooele ER although he didn't want to go. We wound up being ambulanced with lights and sirens to the U of U Hospital. By the next morning we had learned Grandpa had a massive heart attack and he was rushed into surgery to see the extent of the damage. After about 2 hours they came out to us and explained they put another stent in (now he had 4) and also a balloon to help his heart with pumping. We knew it was not good at this point as they told us he was going into the cardiovascular ICU and that he was in critical condition.

Grandpa was so bad the first couple of days. His mind was not right and he was seeing strange things. It was so upsetting to watch. Between Dora, My Dad, Chris and I we spent a lot of nights camping out in the waiting room, I was honored and happy to do that for him. I was thinking back and realized I have stayed in the hospital with him overnight for all 3 heart attacks.

Some of the most important men in my life that would have done anything to help Grandpa get better.

My sweet Sissy!

Grandpa did get his mind back to normal after a couple of days but his heart was just too tired to carry on. They kept having to increase the heart medication instead of decreasing it. He was basically on life support with medication.

The kids wanted to see him so badly but were unable to due to being in the ICU.

The doctors and nurses had a family meeting with Grandpa and explained everything to him to know our next steps. By this time he was also in kidney failure due to his heart not pumping enough blood throughout his body. Grandpa made the difficult decision to stop the medications on the 28th. Everyone was able to come in and say their goodbyes. The next day on the 29th they started to lower the medication and Grandpa's heart could not take it. They originally told us he could possibly live a couple weeks but it was just too much for Grandpa's heart and he passed away surrounded by us all. I will forever miss this special man that I hold near and dear to my heart!
