Days after surgery

I will give a little recap of the days so I can remember and decide if its really worth it if Larkyn ever needs her out. HEE HEE!
Day of surgery- We gave Ryker the medication to make him much calmer since I knew when they would take him away from us he would be so upset. Well I 100% would do that again he could have cared less who took him plus they said it makes them so they don’t remember much so its less traumatizing. The surgery only took about 20 minutes and then he was in the recovery room about 15 minutes before I could go back to be with him. Once in recovery they want them to drink 4 oz. which Ryker was on his way to doing but once again the anesthesia does not sit well with him so he threw up. He continued to throw up 3 times so after 3 different medications and saline flush and 3 plus hours in recovery we finally got to go home. When home he was eating popsicles, brownies and crackers and acting normal as can be!
Day 2- Was HELL! Ryker hates the lortab he needs which contains 7% alcohol so it burns and tastes nasty. I called the doctor and went back to Primary’s to get Ryker a prescription for oxycodone which he likes much better. He didn’t eat much and it was a complete struggle to get him to drink all day.

Tea party to get him to drink!
Day 3- He was eating a little and getting more fluids plus he wanted to play quite a bit. At this point we are still giving him around the clock pain meds every 4 hours even at night. The hospital called and I told them he is still running a slight fever but it goes down with Tylenol so they scared me and said he is not getting enough liquid. So we pushed and threatened liquid down him.
Day 4- Ryker woke up spunky and full of energy he ate much better and drank a lot (we still have to tell him too) we even skipped the 5:30 am medication and he was fine with it. He also had drank his full 8 oz of pediasure in the night which he hasn’t done since the surgery. Today was a GREAT day!
Day 5- Last night we tried to skip the night medications but Ryker woke up at 2:30 am screaming his ears hurt (that is all he has complained about in pain) so we gave him his medication and he went directly back to sleep. I wonder if just Tylenol would have worked rather then the oxy because he fell back to sleep instantly and it didn’t have time to kick in. He slept soundly until he woke up at 8:00 am and I gave him his meds to start the day. He also drank a full pediasure in the night again. The rest of the day he only needed Tylenol to control his pain.
Day 6- Was an okay day we had officially been off oxycodone for 24 plus hours and just controlling pain with Tylenol. He has been eating and drinking well but has not pooped in 5 whole days with putting Miralax in everything he was drinking. Well believe me later on that night it finally kicked in and that kid has been a pooping machine which relieved me to know he finally went. I know the oxycodone will constipate kids. Later on in the evening he was pretty whiny so we gave him a dose of oxy and it seemed to relieve his pain. When he was upset while we were giving him his pain meds he was coughing and I thought a burger came out of his nose but now I am thinking it was probably his scab coming off in pieces, Hopefully it is! Today was the first day he took a nap which he needed.
Day 7- Just like day 2 it was HELL. They said it would be a roller coaster of pain and man were they right. Ryker is back on his oxy pain meds every 4 hours (besides at night he gets really upset if we wake him so we wait to see if he comes to us complaining) and does not want to eat or drink much. We have to constantly remind him to drink. He has been a couch potato most of the day snuggling with Mom and Dad and watching movies. Very grumpy! I am so OVER my lovie feeling miserable. I hope this means the scabs are coming off and we are on the mend. I don’t think he or I can take much more.
Day 8- I went to work and Ryker is with Grandma. He woke of complaining of ear pain in the middle of the night so gave him his medication and he went back to sleep just fine. Grandma said he has been pretty good and needed just Tylenol for his pain. We checked out Briggs mouth (they had the procedure done the same day) because he said he swallowed something last night and his scabs are almost gone. I am completely jealous because Ryker’s are still there. UGH!
Briggs
Day 9- Ryker slept well last night but was complaining of ear pain in the morning so I gave him the oxycodone. The rest of the day he drank and ate very well and only needed one dose of Tylenol. He was really active and played. In the evenings he seems to get more whiny and wants to snuggle with just me (I don’t mind at all)!
Day 10- Back at Grandma’s today! Slept well last night with no medication. In the morning he needed just Tylenol because he said it hurt a little. We can see the scabs are starting to lift on the sides so hopefully it wont be long! He had a pretty good day but said he was really hurting by dinner time so we gave him the oxy.
Day 11- Ryker had a GREAT night and DAY. He ate, drank and played well. NO pain medication at all. I think we are almost 100% back to normal!
Day 12- Ryker is back to Grandma's while I work and he has done GREAT no pain medication and seems to be back to normal! We feel very blessed to be over the worse of all this!

4 years old?

Dear Ryker, How in the world are you 4 years old? I remember your Daddy handing me this tiny precious lovie like it was yesterday. I don't care how old or big you get you will ALWAYS be my baby, my first born that taught me so much. I never knew true, pure, deep love until I had you! This has been a BIG year for you.... you are FINALLY "poop" potty trained. Oh my Ryker I cannot believe how INCREDIBLY hard you were to potty train. Although we still have some pee accidents all in all you do great, I think you are just to on the go to take the time out from playing. You started preschool and you love it! Your best friends are Cash and Beckham (Bear). Some mornings you do not want to go and whine that you want me to go with you but you always go and come back home with the biggest smile and tell me how much fun you had. You are learning so much and it amazes me, I will listen and watch you play or watch a tv cartoon and you can usually answer all the questions correctl...

Happy MOTHER'S Day!

I LOVE Mother's Day. I love being a Mommy.... Ryker is truly the BEST thing that has ever happened to me and I am so extremely blessed that he is my baby! I woke up to Ryker saying "Happy Mom" and Chris and Ryker making me breakfast. I got a hand made card from Chris and Ryker and it melted my heart and made me cry like a baby. Chris and I talked before Mother's day and I asked him not to get me any gifts which he was disappointed in but we are in the process for buying a toy hauler and I wanted to make sure that was cut and dried before spending any money. Chris wanted to get me and promised me a seat to go on the back of my four-wheeler.... he spoils me! I love my two lovies so very much! Thank you for making my day so incredibly SPECIAL! I cherish every moment I have with the two men in my life! I've been called a lot of things in my life, but my favorite of all is Mommy! As Dora and I went the cemetery yesterday to decorate Mom's and Grandma'...

My poor baby boy

Ryker had a few bumps on his back that I noticed on Sunday. I figured it was his sensitive skin from us out camping and from me not putting an lotion on him. I hate to put lotion on him when we are camping because I feel like all the dust sticks to him and makes him even more dirty. Anyways on Monday he was so whiny and running a fever so we packed up and came home. Ryker struggled with the fever all night M onday and even actually slept with Chris and I which has never happened. I figured the fever was from two more of his teeth coming through. Anyway Tuesday when he woke up Ryker was normal again happy as can be so we went about our day. Well Wednesday I needed to go to work so I packed Ryker up to take him to Grandma Irene and I was telling her about these bumps on his legs that you could feel but barley see and she said her other granddaughter gets bumps all the time and it's no big deal. She agreed it was probable from camping and his sensitive skin. When Chris brought ...
